  • Heat a quantity of oil in a sizable pot or deep pan over moderate-high temperature. Incorporate the onion and garlic, then cook for approximately three minutes, or until they achieve a pale golden color and a tender texture.
  • Prepare the beef: Increase the cooking temperature to a high setting. Introduce the beef, crumbling it into smaller pieces as it cooks, until it achieves a uniformly browned color.
  • Pour the red wine into the pot. Bring the liquid to a gentle simmer and cook for approximately one minute, stirring the base to dislodge any accumulated bits, until the distinct alcohol scent has diminished.
  • Add the remaining components. Stir to incorporate them thoroughly. Heat the mixture until it begins to simmer, then decrease the heat to a moderate level, allowing it to bubble gently. Continue to cook for approximately 20 to 30 minutes, leaving the pan uncovered. If the sauce becomes excessively thick, add water as needed to achieve your desired consistency. Stir periodically during this time.
  • This process can significantly enhance the dish’s depth of flavor and texture, if sufficient preparation time is available. Incorporate 3/4 cup of water, cover the cooking vessel with a lid, and allow it to simmer gently on very low heat for approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. Stir the contents periodically, about every 30 minutes. Afterwards, remove the lid and continue simmering for an additional 20 minutes to allow the sauce to achieve the desired thickness.
  • Evaluate the seasoning and incorporate additional salt to taste, if desired. Present the dish over pasta. However, for a more integrated result, if circumstances permit, it is advisable to combine the sauce and pasta thoroughly as detailed in the subsequent instructions.
  • Tossing Sauce and Spaghetti: Initiate heating a sizable pot of salted water until it reaches a rolling boil. Introduce the pasta and cook it for one minute less than the time specified in the package instructions. Set aside approximately one mug (or 1 cup) of the pasta cooking liquid, then proceed to drain the pasta. Combine the cooked pasta with the bolognese sauce, incorporating about 125 ml (1/2 cup) of the reserved pasta water, and warm over medium heat. Gently mix for 1.5 to 2 minutes, or until the spaghetti absorbs the sauce’s color and the sauce achieves a thicker consistency. Portion the mixture into individual serving bowls. Optionally, adorn with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley.
